Speaker’s Biography

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Haizal Jamaluddin
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

Mohd Haizal Jamaluddin earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia, in 2003 and 2006, respectively. In 2009, he obtained his Ph.D. degree in signal processing and telecommunications from the Université de Rennes 1, France, specializing in antenna design, particularly focusing on dielectric resonator antennas and reflectarrays. Presently, he holds the position of Associate Professor at the Wireless Communication Centre, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Additionally, he serves as the Chair of the IEEE Malaysia AP/MTT/EMC Joint Chapter. His research interests encompass dielectric resonator antennas, printed microstrip antennas, MIMO antennas, and reflectarray antennas. He has contributed to over 220 papers published in reputable indexed journals and conference proceedings. As of now, his Scopus H-Index stands at 23.

Prof. Ts. Dr. Azremi Abdullah Al Hadi
Universiti Malaysia Perlis

Azremi Abdullah Al-Hadi (S’13 M’13 SM’14) was born on August 26 in Michigan, United States of America. He received the Master of Science degree in communication engineering from Birmingham University, United Kingdom in 2004 and the Doctor of Science in Technology degree from Aalto University, Finland in 2013. His current research interests include design and performance evaluation of multi-element antennas, mobile terminal antennas and their user interactions, and wireless propagation. In these fields, he has published more than 70 research journals and 135 conference proceedings. He is currently working as Professor and holds position as Director, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centre. Previously, he was the Dean at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering Technology, and the Dean at the School of Computer and Communication Engineering. He has been with the university since 2002. He is active in volunteering work with IEEE Malaysia Section, acting as the Senior Member of IEEE, Past Chair of the IEEE Malaysia Antenna Propagation / Microwave Theory & Technology / Electromagnetic Compatibility (AP/MTT/EMC) Joint Chapter and Past Counselor of the IEEE UniMAP Student Branch. He is the Chartered Engineer of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK, the Professional Technologist of the Malaysia Board of Technologist (MBOT), Malaysia, and the member of the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), Malaysia. Professor Azremi was the recipient of the Best Student Paper Award presented at the 5th Loughborough Antennas and Propagation Conference (LAPC 2009), the CST University Publication Award in 2011, and the Excellence and Best Paper Awards from IEEE Malaysia AP/MTT/EMC Joint Chapter, from 2018 until 2023. During his appointment as the Vice Chair, the chapter won the 2020 Outstanding Chapter Award by the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society.

Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Muzammil Jusoh

MUZAMMIL JUSOH is an Associate Professor which is currently a Research Fellow of Advanced Communication Engineering (ACE) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in UniMAP. Experience as RF and Microwave Engineer with Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) company, from 2006 to 2009, performed as Team Leader of the Specialized Network Services (SNS) Department based in TM Senai Johor. Involved in preventive and corrective maintenance of ILS, NDB, DVOR, repeaters, microwave systems, VHF, and UHF. He received the bachelor’s degree in electrical-electronic and telecommunication engineering and the M.Sc. degree in electronic telecommunication engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), in 2006 and 2010, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in communication engineering from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), in 2013. Score H-Index of 20 (SCOPUS index) and leading few grants as main/co-researcher under the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, Industrial Grants, and Internal Grant from UniMAP worth in total USD500k. Currently supervising/graduate more than 20 postgraduate students (Ph.D. and M.Sc). Has published over 253 articles in journals and proceedings including IEEE Access, MDPI Sensors, MDPI Materials, IEEE Antenna and Wireless Propagation Letter (AWPL), Microwave and Optical Technology Letter (MOTL), the International Journal on Antenna and Propagation (IJAP) and, Progress in Electromagnetics Research (PIER) with more than 100 conference papers. His research interests include antenna design, reconfigurable beam steering antennas, RFID, MIMO, UWB, wireless on-body communications and RF and microwave communication systems. Besides, he has been a member of the technical program committees of several IEEE conferences and technical reviewer for several IEEE and other conferences. Moreover, he is a member of the IET (MIET), the Antenna and Propagation Society (AP/MTT/EMC) Malaysia Chapter and executive committee of IEEE RFID Council. He has received the Chartered Engineering Certification in July 2017, Professional Engineer on Sept 2020 and Professional Technologist on Oct 2020.

Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Najib Mohd Yasin

MOHD NAJIB bin MOHD YASIN is a respected scholar and academic, who has carved a niche for himself in the field of electronic engineering. He received his M.Eng. degree and Ph.D. from The University of Sheffield, U.K., in 2007 and 2013, respectively. Since then, he has been imparting knowledge as a Lecturer with the Faculty of Electronic Engineering Technology at Universiti Malaysia Perlis, Malaysia.
His research spans a wide variety of areas, including computational electromagnetics, conformal antennas, mutual coupling, wireless power transfer, and array design. He also has a special interest in dielectric resonator antennas, underscoring his commitment to unraveling the complexities of modern wireless technology.
In recent years, Dr. Mohd Najib has developed a keen interest in the fascinating area of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces. This innovative technology, which focuses on tailoring electromagnetic wave propagation for improved wireless communication, is emerging as a game-changer in the field of electronic engineering.
Dr. Mohd Najib’s involvement in this pioneering research area exemplifies his commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements. His work represents a perfect blend of innovation, academic rigor, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge, making him a distinguished figure in his field.
