While focus tends to fall on tracks, structures, and signalling, unmanaged electromagnetic effects can disrupt operations and compromise safety. This talk introduces the fundamentals of EMC in the railway context, highlights common sources of interference, and presents real-world cases and mitigation strategies. Designed for engineers with no prior EMC background, the session emphasizes why EMC must be integrated from design to operation for reliable, compliant, and future-ready rail systems. |
